What’s up you lovely cyclocross folks? You’re here thinking, “it’s November, the season’s over!” Well not quite.
In fact, the UCI cyclocross calendar stretches in to February across the Atlantic. And if you expect to carry some fitness through USA CX Nationals, you should probably keep those race legs ready through the end of December. So there’s no use rolling in to Thanksgiving, loading up on the carbs then throwing in the towel.
So before then, hit up Infirmary Mound. The park that feature the Ohio CX Championships last year will host a one off race this year. It is, in fact, the final race of the 2016 Cap City Cyclocross series.
By now, in our ninth season, you know what to expect at Infirmary Mound. It’s an undulating venue that features fast twists and turns. It’s an “off the brakes, set up those turns better” type venue. By the final race your fitness should be damn near it’s peak so there’s no “it’s too hard” or “it’s not hard enough” excuse.
Pedal until it’s over. Because after it’s over, we’re partying.
Be sure to join us at the Brioso Roastery and Coffee Bar, 329 E. Long St., for the series wrap up party. We’ll acknowledge race directors/promoters, sponsors and key volunteers. Our good buddies at Columbus Brewing Company will have some fine beverages for us and we’ll have some snacks to get down on. Be there.
As always, let’s thank Cap City Cross title sponsors Brioso Coffee, Paradise Garageand Columbus Brewing Company for their support for this big weekend!

People say, “This course is boring, it’s flat and it is not hard.”
What we say to that? You’re not pedaling hard enough.
Smith Farms is a classic Cap City Cross venue, and sure, it’s flat as heck. But that just means it’s fast. There’s some super steep, but super short and incredibly ridable kickers to test that lactic build up in your legs. It’s also a long course so expect some long lap times. It’s going to be windy, so think long and hard about going solo early on.
All in all – it’s as hard as you make it. Bail out to an easy gear and it’s going be “easy”. Kick it down a few and push yourself and we guarantee it’s not going to be a ride around a beautiful farm park.
As always, let’s thank Cap City Cross title sponsors Brioso Coffee, Paradise Garage and Columbus Brewing Company for their support for this big weekend!

What’s more Ohio than John Bryan SP? A rolling, flat course with technical features in the middle of west, central farmland Ohio. A beautiful forested retreat from the vacant, harsh open farmlands of western side of the state. Yet so close to still be considered “cap city”.
This year we’re offering up something a little different! We’re taking two of Ohio’s most beloved series and featuring them on the same weekend, at the same venue with more fun added!
Saturday October 15 Cap City Cross will be setting up shop for a showdown that could include neighbors from the west, south west. Expect some furoicious racing! Men and women will be racing for $500 each with other cool prizes along the way!
On Sunday October 16, the regional powerhouse, OVCX, will showing up. Expect some course design changes, deeper competition and $1000 for each men and women!
Big Thanks to Cap City Cross title sponsors Brioso Coffee, Paradise Garage and Columbus Brewing Company for their support for this big weekend! In addition thanks to OVCX series sponsors Team Neighborlink, Zipp Speed Weaponry, VO2 Multipsort and Road ID!

The 3rd race in the series will be held at, what is arguably, our favorite venue! For the first time Paradise Garage Racing will be held accountable for the torture put on the racers. You can expect what you’ve come to know from Big Run, plus more. Here’s a little info from the squad –
This year we are planning on bringing back some of the classic features (the derby hill start, treacherous off cambers and fast flow to reward your climbing efforts), but we will also add some brand new features that have never been seen before.
If that doesn’t excite you, I don’t know what will. Head over to BikeReg for pre-registration.

Next up – the throwdown in Athens, the rumble on the river.
New to the 2016 series is a race in lovely Athens, Ohio. With a course just northwest of town, the venue has something for everyone; including spectators with the first ever beer garden at a Cap City Cross event.
Here’s a brief course description from the Chaindrive Promotions website –
This is a beautifuly prepared track that has been mowed, tilled, conditioned, and seeded with lots of rye grass. It wil be a pleasure to race upon its smooth grass surface. Well, mostly grass. There are some sand traps, stone stairs, paved roads, one hill covered in rider sweat and another covered in broken bones. But other than those few rough spots it’s a nice track. You have two chances to pass the pit area *on each lap* and easy access to medical attention. You also get VIP rider parking near rider registraion and only a short walk to the pit area.
Not only are the guys preparing an incredibly awesome track, they’re also providing a really awesome events. They’ve elevated the payout to $1000 for each the men and women 1/2/3 and included a little prize for he masters 35+/45+ as well. This is looking to be a killer event and one of Ohio premier cycling areas.
There will be no running water in the pits or at the race venue, please plan accordingly.
As always you can find preregistration on BikeReg.
Thanks to our title sponsors Brioso Coffee, Paradise Garage and Columbus Brewing Company!
It’s also great to get to new areas and have new sponsors get involved! Thanks to Bedrock Tool Rental, Black Diamond Bicycles, Ohio Brew Week, Kiser’s Barbecue & Shop Athens!

It’s lovely that it’s getting to be that time of the year again; It’s getting cooler, the humidity is calming down and the days are getting shorter. It’s getting closer and closer to that time of year.
Pre-reg at BikeReg
The folks over at Veloscience are preparing a classic for the series! They’re opening the series up at Lobdell Frisbee park! The classic #crapshitty venue that feature a helluva run up, then grinding, grinding and grinding to the top of the park! What’s the fun of spending 3/4 of the lap time going uphill? A blazing fast downhill that will have your knuckles white!
Head on over to BikeReg to pre-registered! Keep checking back for updated information!
Alright. Alright. Alright.
We had some grandiose, dramatic release planned but due to the business of our organization and some of the folks we work with, a post here will do for now (check our site for other stuff – capcitycross.com). In the next week expect some promo-ish type stuff and please check us out at the Short Track race this Wednesday.
Without further ado, here is the 2016 Cap City Cyclocross schedule –
Sep 10 – Lobdell Frisbee CX, Alexandria, OH – register
Oct 1 – Hocking River Rumble, Athens, OH
Oct 8 – Big Run Fun CX, Columbus, OH
Oct 15 – John Bryan, Yellow Spring, OH – register
Nov 12 – Smith Farms, Columbus, OH
Nov 19 – Infirmary Mound, Granville, OH
As usual – all of our races will be held on Saturdays as to reduce conflict with other races in Ohio. October 15 at John Bryan will be held the day before the OVCX John Bryan CX race on October 16. We will take a break for the UCI weekends in Cleveland, Cincinnati and Louisville. We, as an organization, encourage all riders to get out of the Cap City Cross region to experience other series, regions and races!
That said – stay in touch! See you all very, very soon!
Hello! Welcome back!
Registration opens Monday April 28 at 12:01am!
A few things to note –
Industry race is for industry only, it’s an open category field. Please understand that if you not an owners/management/brand representative, you will be moved out of the category.
The single speed race is also OPEN. The one true equalizer.
There will be eliminator races, they will have some bearing on the 2016 Short Track and Cyclocross series, more details to come as the event gets closer. Or they could just be for bragging rights, who the hell knows.
The 15 minute rule applies – registration closes 15 minutes prior to the posted race time. Cheers!
Preregistration is preferred, but we will allow day of registration with no additional charge. However we can only accept credit/debit payments.
Cap City Cross is kicking off 2016 with a special, one and done, Short Track race at Chestnut Ridge as a part of the Insomnium Weekend!
More details by the end of the weekend but mark your calendars for May 14! Keep checking back. Tell all your friends!
We are lining things up for the 2016 series. As it turns out we’ve had a few clubs back out of the series for 2016. We are looking for one or two more clubs to get involved. If you’re interested, please shoot an email to email@example.com.
Again, to avoid conflict with the other series in Ohio, and the region, we will be doing all Saturday races, pending a two race weekend in mid-October. We also plan to avoid any USA Pro CX/UCI races with in a 3-6 hour drive (the UCI calendar will be released this weekend).
Our schedule will run October – November, with a few non-series races in December if there’s interest.
