The super rad, 2013 Cap City Cross Series schedule -
1. September 21 – Team SixOneFour @ Summit Vision (CX Cup) – Westerville, OH
Team SixOneFour is bringing Cap City Cross a new venue for 2013. Summit Vision is a team building and ropes course in Westerville. Expect some stiff competition because this is the first race in the 2013 Cap City Cross series as well as the first race in the Ohio CX Cup series.
2. October 5 - Cap City Cycling @ Big Run -Columbus, OH
Everyone’s favorite soapbox derby hill that was repurposed for a cyclocross extravaganza. What’s there not to say about Big Run? It has elevation, off-camber, technical and single track sections. Sure there’s a nice 300m of straight line, but can you handle the elevation on the way up to the finish line?
3. October 12 - Team SixOneFour @ Lobdell Frisbee – Alexandria, OH
Racers often mistake central Ohio as pan flat. That couldn’t be any further from the truth. Lobdell Frisbee is a climbing spectacular. Racers will need to make sure their running is on par with their riding as there’s one monster run-up, followed by a long climb and a blazing fast descent.
4. October 26 – PG/ ODU @ Infirmary Mound (CX Cup/NEOCX Mash Up) -Granville, OH
If Smith Farms is a classic, then Infirmary Mound is the queen of our classic courses. It’s a complete Euro-style course – largely non-technical and fast with sweeping off-cambers and a surprising amount of elevation gain per lap. Oh, and expect some serious competition here as it’s our second race in the Ohio CX Cup series.
5.October 27 - PG/ ODU @ Infirmary Mound (NEOCX Mash Up) – Granville, OH
There’s no doubt that everyone’s legs will be smoked from day one at Infirmary Mound, but that’s no stinkin’ excuses in bike racing. This is a hard weekend and it’s not going to get any easier. NEOCXers will be sticking around to race because there are some serious bragging rights at stake.
6. November 10 – Team Jeni’s @ Smith Farms - Columbus, OH
Classic Cap City Course – Flat, fast and furious. Laps are long, but quick. This early season race will require racers to tap those pack racing skills. Expect to take some pulls, a bunch of headwind and a fast, sprint finish.
7. November 16 – COMBO Race Team @ Alum Creek SP – Delaware, OH
Ahh yea! It’s beachbum season! Let’s hope everyone’s summer tans are looking good because if you’re not prepared, you’re going to be look pretty pale in the face. This race isn’t a quaint walk along the beach, it’s slogfest. Expect long sand sections followed by some serious off camber and fast straightaways.
8. November 30 – Cap City Cycling PostgivingCX @ Darree Fields Park – Dublin, OH
Post-Thanksgiving races are always a little odd – everyone sort of gives up on biking and stuffs their faces full of hearty goodness over the holiday. Those who show a little self-control may be able pull ahead at Darree Fields, which has been proven to be a dirt-crit. Pack skills are a must. To the victor goes the spoils! As always, a proper Cap City Cross Postgiving potluck will be held to celebrate the tail end of the long, holiday weekend.
9. December 7 - Paradise Garage @ Infirmary Mound
If you sucked it up for the first round of races at Infirmary Mound, worry not, because you’ve got a second chance to shine. Secondly, if you hold a collegiate license, you’ll be able to do some additional racing as well. Pretty sweet, huh? Yea! We can’t wait!
10. December 15 -Back Room Roasters @ Mill Creek Park, Marysville, OH
It’s a new venue to close out the 2013 Cap City Cross series. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
